Lucid-dreaming mutedly and sonophotodynamically, Sui-hin Mak’s art practice explores a floating sense of fringe liminal belonging. Mak’s atmospheric experiences encourage viewers to feel diasporic stories and latent qualities of everyday objects, places, language, and sounds. Mak cross-pollinates identity, folklore, mysticism, comedy, trauma, technology, processes, and nature. Informed by ongoing colonialism, Mak prays that the world will get well soon, imagining art as a medium of memory, resonance, recovery, and peace.
